A Fire Risk Assessment is something that you MUST do under the Order and if there are more than 5 employees, the assessment MUST be written down and an emergency plan must be in place. You also need to take into consideration anyone that may visit your premises. E.G. Customers, delivery drivers, contractors and particularly people with disabilities.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that ‘any person who has some
level of control over a premises MUST take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from
fire’. This applies to all non domestic premises and ‘The Responsible Person’ could
be the owner, the occupier, the managing agent, the building manager or any other
person who has some level of control over a part of a premises.

Pubs Clubs and Restaurants
Schools and Sports Centres
Tents and Marquees
Hotels and Hostels
Factories and Warehouses
IT DOES NOT APPLY TO
Private Homes including individual flats in a block or a house.
